On 16 September 2026, stakeholders from government, industry, research organisations, public administrations and the broader European AI ecosystem gathered in Brussels for the official inauguration of the Belgian AI Factory Antenna (BE-AIFA).

Europe's AI Factories
Europe’s AI Factories combine AI-optimised computing infrastructure with expertise, training, data-related services and ecosystem support. Together with the AI Factory Antennas, they help European companies, researchers and public organisations engage with these capabilities.

BE-AIFA's collaboration with LUMI and JAIF
BE-AIFA is developing close operational links with the LUMI AI Factory and JUPITER AI Factory. These partnerships combine local support for Belgian organisations with access to expertise and capabilities at European scale.

Use cases presented during the inauguration
The inauguration featured organisations using, testing or preparing to use advanced AI and high-performance computing infrastructure.
Examples included:
- AI for medical imaging (Nuclivision)
- Audio AI and machine learning for the music industry (Impulsia)
- Simulation and AI for ventilation systems (DUCO)
- Sovereign AI and applied AI research (Euranova)
- Media AI and large-scale media datasets (AIME)
- Scientific computing and brain-signal analysis (KU Leuven)
- Weather forecasting using AI and HPC (KMI)
- Materials discovery and industrial innovation (Matgenix)
Together, these examples demonstrated how advanced AI infrastructure can support innovation across health, manufacturing, science, media, public-sector applications and many other domains.
